SSB Research Specialist Dr. Gordon Wellman went to the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) in Dresden for a 2-week research stay in the lab of Dr. Jonathan Rodenfels. Gordon worked closely with Dr Adrian Nievergelt to learn techniques related to CRISPR in the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

To round off his stay, Gordon presented his current SSB work to his host group as part of a seminar entitled "Synthetic biology and metabolic engineering applications in microalgae: Sustainable Biotechnology at KAUST".
